** NOTE: This file is instructions to upgrade DT Register to version 2.6.9. This must be done prior to upgrading to version 2.7.0. /// COMPONENT INSTALLATION /// Use the other file in this "2.6.9 Install" folder: com_dtregister2_6_9c_J15.zip This is the component install file. In the Joomla admin, go to Extensions -> Install/Uninstall. If you already have a previous version installed, you will need to first uninstall that version. See upgrade instructions below. Otherwise, simply install this package by clicking the "Browse" button to locate the install file on your computer. After locating it, click "Upload File & Install". You should see a successful installation message. For further assistance, see our video tutorial for Installation. /// UPGRADING FROM DT REGISTER 2.5.0 or later /// 1. Backup your files and database just in case you experience any problems during or after the upgrade. 2. Download a copy of main.css and the two language files IF you have made any changes to any of these files. 3. Uninstall the current version of DT Register. Your records, events, configuration, etc will NOT be removed. Files are replaced but all data is left alone. 4. Install the new version of DT Register for Joomla 1.5.x. 5. IF you have changes in your main.css file, do not reload this file to your new installation as there may be new items in this file. You can however copy and paste in anything needed from your backed up file. This file is located at /components/com_dtregister/assets/css/main.css 6. IF you have changes in your language files, do not reload them to your new installation. There will be new language items that you will need. You will find two language files for DT Register... one for the frontend and one for the backend (administrator area). These files are located at: /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_dtregister.ini /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_dtregister.ini If you have previously made any changes to your DT Register language files, you will need to re-apply them to these new files. 7. After completing the upgrade, you need to go to the DT Register Configuration, set all new parameters and SAVE. IF UPGRADING FROM 2.5.x, next go to Custom Fields Management and open and save ALL custom fields that you are still using. Until you re-save them, they will likely not show up in any registration forms. You should also check each event, open it in the backend to check new parameters, then save. There are so many changes when going from 2.5.x to 2.6 that you need to make sure everything is saved and including all new settings. IF UPGRADING FROM 2.6.0 - 2.6.5 to 2.6.6 or later, you will also need to open and re-save your custom fields IF you use the Default settings. The setting choices are all changed so you'll need to re-establish what is default. ALSO, open each event and go to the Fields tab... re-set the settings for each custom field as needed as the options have changed. 8. Uninstall and then reinstall any older versions of modules and plugins that you are using for DT Register. /// UPGRADING FROM DT REGISTER 2.2.2 - 2.4.6 /// 1. Backup your files and database just in case you experience any problems during or after the upgrade. 2. Download a copy of main.css and english.dtregister.php IF you have made any changes to either of these files. 3. Uninstall the current version of DT Register. Your records, event setups and Settings will NOT be removed. 4. Install the new version of DT Register for Joomla 1.5.x. 5. IF you have changes in your main.css file, do not reload this file to your new installation as there may be new items in this file. You can however copy and paste in anything needed from your backed up file. This file is located at /components/com_dtregister/assets/css/main.css 6. IF you have changes in your english.dtregister.php file, do not reload this file to your new installation. Joomla 1.5 has a different location for component language files. You will find two language files now for DT Register... one for the frontend and one for the backend (administrator area). These files are located at: /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_dtregister.ini /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_dtregister.ini If you have previously made any changes to your DT Register language file, you will unfortunately need to redo those changes in these new language files as the structure is totally different. The same tags were used so you will easily find any necessary items that you may need to modify. Also be aware that there are new language file entries that were not in the previous DT Register language files. 7. After completing the upgrade, you need to go to the DT Register Configuration, set all new parameters and SAVE. Then go to Custom Fields Management and open and save ALL custom fields that you are still using. Until you re-save them, they will likely not show up in any registration forms. You should also check each event, open it in the backend to check new parameters, then save. There are so many changes when going from a previous version to 2.6 that you need to make sure everything is saved and including all new settings. 8. Uninstall and then reinstall any older versions of modules and plugins that you are using for DT Register. ** NOTE: If you happen to be upgrading from a REALLY OLD version of DT Register (2.2.1 or earlier), contact us for additional instructions you may need for upgrading. /// JEVENTS COMPONENT INFO /// Yes, JEvents is required for DT Register 2.6.9 or earlier. You do not have to use the frontend of the events calendar if you do not want to, but the backend is needed. For Joomla 1.5, you should use JEvents 1.5.2 or newer. If you are already using an older version of JEvents, see the upgrade instructions below. The component itself is the only item you HAVE to install.
